Here's Why Starbucks Is Cancelling BOGO Drink Days In December & January

Even though Starbucks has a good reason for canceling its BOGO dates in December and January, customers will surely be disappointed by this news. As dedicated Starbucks fans know, customers can buy any handcrafted drink and can get their second drink for free between the hours of 2-7 p.m on certain dates every month. For the next few weeks, however, these happy hour events won't be taking place.

Earlier this month, Reuters first reported Starbucks was temporarily pausing BOGO deals for December and January. In an internal memo sent to employees, which was obtained by Reuters, Rossann Williams, Starbucks President of U.S. and Canada, wrote: “We will always prioritize your safety and in this moment, we all have a role and responsibility – as Starbucks partners – to protect each other, our customers and our business as we navigate this pandemic."

Starbucks later confirmed to Delish that BOGO was paused in an effort to avoid creating crowds in its stores amid the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. Starbucks told the outlet that happy hour in December will be nonexistent, as well as on January 7th. Starbucks will be “temporarily moving to other promotions such as Double Star Days and will reassess future plans as we continue to monitor the situation.”
