David 'Heavy D' Sparks, one of the two stars on the former Discovery Channel reality series Diesel Brothers, was arrested in Salt Lake City Tuesday (October 7) morning, TMZ reports.

Sparks, 40, was issued a bench warrant last Thursday (October 2) for failure to pay fees owed in connection with a Clear Air Act lawsuit filed by Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment. The reality star reportedly owes $843,602.23 as part of the lawsuit, which he failed to pay during the past three years.

Sparks was booked at Salt Lake City Jail at 7:30 a.m. local time, according to TMZ. The reality star and his friend, David 'Diesel Dave' Kiley, initially gained notoriety on YouTube before former car enthusiast and former Tonight Show host Jay Leno featured them on his talk show, with Discovery Channel contacting them after the appearance.

Diesel Brothers premiered on January 4, 2016 and ran for six seasons and 49 episodes until December 28, 2022. Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment initially filed a civil lawsuit against the 'Diesel Brothers' in 2016, accusing them of engaging in "significant, repeated and ongoing violations of federal law" by modifying custom vehicles to create black smoke from exhaust systems, which the group claimed was "one of the most toxic types of pollution there is."

Sparks and colleagues Keaton Hoskins and Joshua Stuart were later fined a total of $850,000 after Federal Judge Robert J. Shelby determined that they violated the Clean Air Act on hundreds of occasions, while also violating the earlier injunction. The Diesel Brothers appealed in April 2020, though an appeals court upheld the verdict.
