Al Pacino has expressed his deep sorrow over the death of his former partner and co-star Diane Keaton.

Keaton, known for her role as Kay Corleone in The Godfather films (among many other well-known movies), passed away on October 11th at the age of 79 due to pneumonia. Pacino, currently filming in Paris, took a few days to process the news before sharing his feelings publicly.

In a heartfelt message shared with Deadline, Pacino said, "I am deeply saddened by Diane Keaton’s passing. Diane was my partner, my friend, someone who brought me happiness and on more than one occasion influenced the direction of my life." He reflected on their memories together, stating that although over thirty years have passed since they were together, the memories remain vivid and have returned with a force that is both painful and moving.

Pacino praised Keaton's boundless spirit and her impact on the world, noting that she "lived without limits, and everything she touched carried her unmistakable energy." He described her as "magnetic—lightning and charm, hurricanes and tenderness," emphasizing that her influence will be remembered long after her passing.

Keaton and Pacino shared an on-and-off romance from 1974 to 1990. The actress, who never married, also dated other notable figures like Woody Allen and Warren Beatty. She is survived by her two children, Dexter and Duke.

Pacino concluded his tribute by saying, "People will miss her, but more than that, they will remember her. She left a mark that cannot fade. She was unstoppable, resilient, and above all, deeply human. I will always remember her. She could fly — and in my heart, she always will."
