Martha Stewart may be the queen of entertaining, but she is also a powerhouse business woman, and opened up about how she went from her catering business to the media empire that she has today in the newest episode of the "Math & Magic" podcast with iHeartRadio CEO Bob Pittman.

When speaking about getting her magazine off the ground Martha had one "absolute rule" for her company: the creatives were to be paid just as much as the executives. She explained, "I concentrated really on getting everything done well, and we had the best team. I was the CEO, I had the best President, I had the best lawyer and the best legal officer, I had the best CFO. Everybody was really young and vital, and I was in my 40s by the time I did this, so close to 50 when I started my big business. But I t was a lot of fun. And really choosing like-minded people to work with you really made a huge difference in the success of the company, and they all went off to do amazing things. Everybody."

She added, "And we paid the creatives the same as we paid the business people. That was one of my absolute rules of the company was the creatives have to be paid. I mean, in Hollywood, the creatives get paid more than most of the executives, so why not in a magazine?"
